Huber Heights-February 16,2017- Today the OHSAA Boys Southwest Sectional invade Marion Poelking Lanes for their Boys High School Bowling Tournament. There were a total of 26 teams and 4 Individuals to participate. A lot of the boys bowl together in the off season so they are friends, but after the National anthem, they became friendly rivals. 10 teams advance to the districts along with 10 individuals, the individuals are from teams that did not qualify to move on, but place as individuals. After 3 games of regular bowling, the Mechanicsburg Indians were out front by margin of 27 pins over the rest of the field. In the hunt to advance were Graham Falcons 5th and Urbana Hillcimbers 7th. West Liberty Salem ran into some early struggles and fell to 23rd. After the Lunch break, they went to bowl 6 Baker games to finish the tournament. The Indians and Hillclimbers came out and rolled Like they were on fire and the Burg held of the field and expanded their lead to 139 pins to take the sectional championship. Urbana past several teams and moved up to finish 4th. The Falcons posted several good games and kept themselves in the qualifiers and finished 7th. West Liberty ran a rough road and just could not come back from the 1st half deficit. They finished 23rd. Congratulations to all the boys for putting on a great tourney. Even though these boys will move on with their teams, They put out the list of top 40 bowlers as individual bowlers for the day. Champaign County bowlers who made the cut Caleb Westfall MB) placed 1st with a 727 three game series and was 80 pins over 2nd place. Also to make the list,5th Brady Oder(G) 623, 8th Luc Russell (U)575, 10th Taylor Armstrong(U) 569, tied for 31st David McMahill (M) and Preston Estep(M) at 535 and Jake Ripley(M) 530. The Boys the move on will bowl Next Thursday along with the Girls qualifiers Next Thursday at Beaver Vu Lanes in Beavercreek. I was advised that Mechanicsburg Girls had advanced with a 3rd place finish, but the results had been removed from the website at this time.
