Columbus-March 3rd, 2017- Today the OHSAA Bowling tournament kicked off with the Girls Division 2 at Wayne Web's Columbus Bowl. After the Qualifier round of 3 regular games and 3 baker games, Local team Mechanicsburg was still in the hunt and qualified for the finals placing 6th with the top 8 advancing. The Championship bracket was set with Mechanicsburg #6 taking on Norton#3 in a best 3 of 5 baker game series. The Indians dropped the first two games but came back and took game three. The Indians lost a heartbreaker 4th game by a 3 pin margin to be knocked out of the tourney. When the dust settled, Coldwater took the gold with Willard placing second Springfield Northwestern 4th, Minerva 5th, Mechanicsburg 6th, Jonathan Alder 7th and Galion Northmor 8th. Individually, Ally Hosier (Mechanicsburg) was named 2017 Division 2 Champion with a 656 series. Others from Champaign County with 20th Madison Dolby (Triad) 547, 46th Miranda Keen (Mechanicsburg), 74th Madison Boggs (Mechanicsburg) 463, 79th Amanda Coulter (Mechanicsburg) 438 and Skyler Herron (Mechanicsburg) 430. There were a total of 102 Bowlers that competed*. The Boys Division 2 will bowl tomorrow with Urbana and Graham bowler hitting the lanes bidding for a State Championship. Urbana, the defending champs are coming in with a huge Division title win last week and are heavily favored, but count no one out, at this level, you can't take anyone for granted and they have all earned the right to be there.
