KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Urbana University senior Lewis Dunne (Ellesmere Port, England) has been named a First Team All-American, announced Thursday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He is one of three midfielders listed on the NCAA Division II Men's All-America team and the first Blue Knight to earn the prestigious distinction for men's soccer.
Dunne served as co-captain for the Blue Knights and helped lead UU to national prominence over the past two seasons. A two-time all-region and all-conference performer, Dunne led UU in points this season with 22 which included eight goals and six assists.
His biggest highlight this season occurred in UU's 2-0 win over Mercyhurst in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Dunne scored both goals in that contest to guide UU into the Atlantic Region Final for the second straight year.
This year's 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division II All-America Teams feature a total of 70 players, who will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon on January 14, 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in conjunction with the 2017 NSCAA Convention.
