The West Liberty-Salem boy's and girl's cross country teams competed in the Tiffin Carnival on Saturday. The Tiffin Carnival is the second largest cross country meet in the country with over 4,000 runners competing.
The WL-S girls finished 8th in the Division III race competing against 53 teams. The Tigers were powered by Junior Regan Bieleski with an 8th place finish with a time of 19:47 in a field of 373 runners. WL-S was also paced by Grace Adams finishing 51st (19:47), Kiania Reames was 73rd(21:49), Jenna Magnuson finished 104th(22.22), Lydia Moell crossed the line in 135th(22:56), Payton Umphries was 160th(23:18), and Lauren Fowler followed with a 211th place finish(24:16).
Coach Ann Vogel commented after the race that she felt the race was a good confidence booster, and that the girls are improving with every race. "There's still plenty of room for improvement, but we're headed in the right direction".
The Big Orange boy's team finished 20th out of 44 teams. Michael Conley led the Tigers with a 53rd place finish(17:46.6), Nick Williams was next at 54th(17:46.8), Noah Smith was 63rd(17.55), Charlie Williams finished 180th(19:29), Isaac Smith was 207th(19:57), followed by Bryan Woods in 214h(20:00), Caleb Siegnthaler rounded out the scoring by finishing 249th(20:36).
WL-S teams will run again on September 24th in the Max Evans Invitational at the Ohio Caverns.
