WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. - The Urbana University women's basketball team suffered a tough blow in its first road conference game, falling 100-49 to West Liberty inside the ASRC.
Urbana fell to 2-2 and 0-2 in league play while West Liberty earned its first victory of the season to improve to 1-4 (1-1 MEC).
Guard Danie Shafer led UU with 12 points while post-player Mikayla Ward registered her first career double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
UU only made 16 field goals the entire game, finishing 16 of 75 (21 percent) from the floor. West Liberty used a wide margin on the glass by out-rebounding UU 61-44.
The Blue Knights opened the scoring with the first basket of the game on a Morgan Mattimore jumper, but that was the only lead UU would hold all night.

Urbana will have over a week to prepare for its next game. The Blue Knights will host Charleston for another conference matchup on Thursday, Dec. 1. Tipoff in Grimes is slated for 5:30 p.m. ET.
